The Beginning - RFC 2009

RFC 2009 - The Roaring Lions from Sri Lanka (Reported by Sean Hameed - Manager (Team Sri Lanka)
"The RFC now refers the Sri Lankans as a contingent, as we are now a reckoning force with 3 comp vehicles and 2 support vehicle. We got ourselves our equpped pajero's where Darshan, Sam, Viraj Sanjaya Chami Kiran are part of this historic entry. "
Day - 1 (Prologs)

The RFC kicked off at the Zon Regency hotel in Johor Baru with approximately 50 plus entries dominated by local Johor based clubs.  The foreign contingent other than the Sri Lanka were, Philipines, Russia, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Austria, and Denmark.

The 4x4 machines are getting lighter by the year, as this year there are a few unrecognizable vehicles such as buggies, and what next will they come without a chassis next year ?  These were running around like mosquitoes in the mud, and without windscreen, the safety aspect of these vehicles have been compromised to achieve these modifications.RFC-1

Team Lanka had a fair day, Indika and Naveen, went through 4 out of 6 SS without any DNF’s, and with some competitive timings. Ranga and Kathere had a bad start, where the winch failed, where Allawa and Raju had to wait out with Ranga and only completed 2 SS for the day.

RFC-2

The Sutera Mall area, was like a 4x4 carnival, where there were over 200 modified 4x4 from various clubs and organizations were on display. There were ATV’s and even a  drift session by some souped up cars were showing off in the parking lot.

RFC-3

The rains in the afternoon gave conditions that were to be expected in days ahead, the prolog area has become a slosh pool and hopefully the sun will come out to dry some of the gear tomorrow.

Await more news from the Sri Lankan Contingent...
